Max is Huck's new little friend. I'm not sure the admiration is mutual, but Huck sure gets happy when he sees Max nearby. And since he now touches everything within sight, Max is getting some "nice" baby pets. Bless Max's heart for being so sweet about it.;)

Babies are so humble. The things that make them happy are so simple and heartbreaking. For instance, near our apartment is a very humble and simple and heartbreaking little place called "Dolphin Park." It has a small dolphin that sprays just a little bit of water out of its mouth. It has a small sand box and some small toys and a small playground area. In other words, it is heavenly for small people. Little one and two year olds toddle around frantically filling cups and other plastic items with water so that they can pour the water into other cups and plastic items. Parents sit on benches and smile at each other as if to say, "Who would have thought this would be so much fun?" Huck is really too young to truly play at Dolphin Park, but he loves to be held near the water. He kicks his legs excitedly and sort of grunts if we try to walk away. He also likes to stand in little puddles of water. Nothing is more exciting than a trip to Dolphin Park these days. (Well, except for being held by Daddy while Mommy chases them both real slowly in circles around the apartment. But who wouldn't find that fun?);)

Poor lil' Huck is teething. Therefore, he is a Grumpy Baby. He sticks everything into his mouth and gnaws on it ferociously. He can be playing happily when all of a sudden he remembers his pain and begins to wimper and look for something to bite. Sometimes it's my knuckle. Other times it's his shirt. Once it was this very bib. He also enjoys his Spider-Man teething toy. Poor thing! (And Poor Mama and Poor Papa, too. These better be some very pretty teeth.);)

Something happened to our sweet innocent baby today. He is suddenly very manly. He surprised us by rolling over quite aggressively this afternoon, all the while making masculine grunting noises. He kept rolling over and scooching around like it was the most normal thing in the world. And then to top it off, his kisses became extra rough. Now he grabs my face with his chubby little hands and pulls me to him so that he can plant a big wet one on me, followed by insane macho laughter. I think our little baby has become a man!;)

i like to think of myself as a funny guy, but sometimes it's tough. i come up with all kinds of funny voices, new songs, crazy faces, wacky dances and strange noises to keep that little huck o' mine smilin' and every now and then i succeed. but mostly he just looks at me as if to say, that's all ya got?then mommy just walks up to him and smiles and huck laughs and giggles and squeals for more!
of course, i'm used to it. let's face it. jonny's waaaay funnier than me.
