on the homestretch

Today starts the third trimester! And in honor of this milestone the baby has become a constant mover. The other night I barely slept at all because of his dance routines. Creepy things are beginning to happen, like when Troy felt a very obvious foot type thing sticking out, and when he pressed on it the foot pressed back. My little ten year old friend hugged me recently and got kicked right in the chest. No more gentle little sweet and subtle movements from our creature. And we as his parents are so proud that he seems to love the new U2 album, for when we play it he does extra special twists and turns. Tomorrow morning we move into our new apartment! So much excitement these days ...[ 3 comments ] ( 54 views )
shocking news

Here we are in Kansas with my family enjoying lots of relaxation and food. Noah is three years old and has a three month old baby sister Lily, so he is pretty accustomed to the whole pregnancy thing. He asked me to lift up my shirt so he could see the baby in there, and when I did he peeked into my belly button and claimed he could see the baby. Yesterday there was an interesting conversation that took place between us and Noah, and I would like to paraphrase it here.Jeni: Your cousin is in JJ's tummy.
Noah: I know.
Jeni: Someday she's going to go to the hospital to get it out.
JJ: How is it going to get out?
Noah: They're going to reach in there and pull it out.
JJ: Reach in where?
Dad: Oh, God ...
Noah: In your belly button.
All: Oh ...
JJ: How did the baby get in there?
Noah: I don't know.
Jeni: Did someone put the baby in there?
Noah: Yes.
JJ: Who put it in there?
Pause.
Noah: I think I did.
The End.

We found an apartment!!! For those of you who live in New York or have ever lived in New York, I know you understand why we feel like we might just break down and cry with happiness. Actually, anyone who has been hearing us complain and worry about this for the last several months understands. Whew! That was really hard work. We leave Monday morning for a week in Kansas and when we return we move. This means we have two and a half days to get this apartment packed up, so we probably should get started. The fun begins! The baby won't have to live in this crazy little apartment with no elevator! Max and I can stop waddling up and down all these stairs! People, we're going to have a dishwasher!!![ 3 comments ] ( 42 views )this just in!

I've discovered that I now have a built in shelf! When I'm sitting I can just put a little pen or some other object right on my belly and it stays there just fine. Yet another perk of being preggers!I know what you're all thinking. I'm getting desperate for baby blog news. I guess I'm in the phase of pregnancy where nothing really dramatic or new happens. Therefore, you will all have to just act excited about the small things. Like my new shelf![ 5 comments ] ( 62 views )
my subway dream come true

Finally! Today a young Orthodox Jewish man quickly got out of his seat when he saw me standing near him. I think I blushed as I sweetly sat down. Troy was with me and very passionatey said, "Thank you! Oh, thank you!" to the shy lad.Oh, you may think this is hardly worth a baby blog, but I was starting to get worried that my dreams would never come true.
Now for a new apartment!![ 5 comments ] ( 81 views )
full of love

I've been getting a lot of very uplifting predictions about our baby lately. The majority of people that hear our due date is March first get a very romantic smile on their face and sort of stare off into the heavens for a few seconds. They then tell me that their birthday is around that time or that someone they love has a birthday around that time. I'm beginning to feel like 90 percent of the population is born in late Feb. or early March.Well, anyone who loves someone born around this time then tells me beautiful things about people who were born under the Pisces sign. Now I'm not real into astrology, although I do like being an Aries and I find it neat that there are certain characteristics that all Aries have. I also don't think it's that far fetched to believe that God had some magical plan with the stars. Anyway, I cannot count the times people have touched their hearts, lowered their voices and said very gently, "Oh, Pisces are so full of love." That's the catch phrase to describe a Pisces apparently ... full of love! And sensitive. I got my hair cut the other day and my hairdresser became obsessed with my pregnancy, especially when she heard the due date. She told me that all Pisces love their mothers no matter what, and they are all full of love and very sensitive. An actual Pisces recently told me (also in that exciting hushed voice), "Oh, that's good! I am a Pisces and am very sensitive and full of love."
