The last day of 2014 found Troy saying goodbye to the Montessori School and a few hours later selling his first drawing on his brand new etsy page: drawingsbytroy! We thought this was a very cute bit of timing. We began the evening by trekking down to the square and fitting Troy into his second annual giant puppet from JoAnn Kaminsky’s beautiful collection. This time around Troy played very tall Janus, who Huck taught us is the Roman god of doorways, passageways, beginnings and endings. This was on the scroll he carries: ”Oh! two-headed Janus, origin of the silently gliding year.” We thought that was a very cute New Years theme. We had our second annual New Year’s Eve dinner at Huck’s all-time favorite place Tiny Tim’s followed by the cutest parade you ever saw. Our friends hooted and cheered and giggled at Troy’s commitment to puppeteering which some might call aggressive and over-the-top. Huck and I joyfully (and perhaps awkwardly) led him along the streets with our jangly noise-makers while taking iPhone selfies. Next we trekked across the street to our friends’ fireplace to warm up for a few hours before one more walk back to the square for the sweetest midnight of our lives: cheering the cutest little electric pig you ever saw as it slowly dropped from a Fayetteville firetruck crane while spectacular fireworks exploded in the sky. When we returned back to the fireplace on Spring Street I said to our visiting friend from NYC, “Welcome to Fayetteville.” Truly the cutest town on earth.
