Two things I love to do that I can’t do for a little while longer: laugh really hard and cry over a good book. Sometimes, especially this time of year, I miss blowing my runny nose and sneezing now and again.  I do not miss carrying groceries or vacuuming, and I could definitely get used to watching Huck do the laundry.  Unrelated to my ear, I also miss sunshine, temps in the 70s, hammock naps, eating outside and scheduled events not being canceled, like Troy’s second and final performance of “Red” and Huck’s second and final archery tournament. To quote my friend’s t-shirt: “Dear Winter, Can You Not?  Sincerely, Everyone.”

In non-winter news, Troy and I are both starting full-time jobs at The New School in a few weeks!  Along with assistant theatre director, I will also be the Director of Auxiliary Programs, overseeing the after-school and summer program while Troy will join the preschool faculty, eventually incorporating his guitar playing and storytelling.  Troy has endured my braggy monologues about the amazing food at The New School for the past six months, and now he gets to see what the fuss is about.  They may have to increase their breakfast and lunch budget starting on March 9th.  It took us a year, eight months and several mistakes along the way, but we are finally ready to begin our Fayetteville careers.  Join us as we collectively breathe a sigh of happy relief.

Huck, in the meantime, is entering his final week in the single digits.  We have high hopes that with his birthday will come not only Aunt Jeni, but also the beginnings of spring.   Until then our town shall turn whiter and whiter as we huddle together in warm blankets watching our new favorite Netflix show “Brain Games,” wondering when we will next get to leave the house and how much shorter summer will become.

This just in: RED has been rescheduled for May 29th.  What?  That’s right.  May 29th.
