This weekend began Huck’s mid-winter break, or nine day weekend as he calls it.

You could say that we three have been a little stir crazy lately.  You could even call us crabby.   We’re living on top of each other in this cute little apartment and our upstairs carpenter neighbor is apparently building an ark and it’s really cold outside and sometimes Troy and I feel a little like Natalie Portman in “Black Swan.”  And Huck is all those other people out to get her.

While tucking Huck into bed the other night he said to me, “You are so sensitive to me being bad that you yell at me everyday.”  There is some truth to that, but if he was just a little more sensitive to being good maybe a certain cranky mama would chill the heck out.

All this to say we are heading up to a cabin in the Catskills Mountains for a few days of peace and quiet in front of a wood burning fireplace with a whole bunch of movies and books and games and wine.

And we may come back.
