Today is finally Huck’s last day of school! In a few hours I’ll pick him up and we’ll join our friends for a celebratory visit to Chuck E. Cheese’s, because what better way is there to kick off summer vacation? I can clearly remember this time last year, feeling so much excitement and more than a little anxiety about what the coming year would bring. These days I keep running into neighbors who are in that exact spot, full of slightly nervous questions about sending their child off to school in September. And though it was all such a big deal to me back then, today I’m having a hard time remembering what there was to be worried about. Here I am, all these months later, hoping I can handle the transition of having Huck around all the time again. I’m sure in no time at all we’ll be making treks up to the zoo and down to the beach and to all the places in between, and I’m also sure that in no time at all we’ll be wondering where the summer went as we make plans for first grade. No matter how old I get, I’ll never get used to the swift passage of time.
Here are a few pictures of Huck wrapping up his life as a kindergarten kid …

I remember your anxiety too! Remember trying to pick out proper containers for his lunch at Target? That’s an image I’ll never get out of my head. Oh what a great Mama and what a great kid! We knew you’d do wonderfully in Kindergarten, Huck…in fact you could probably teach it. xoxo
