This picture really sums up our brand new seven year old and the birthday he had …

We asked him how he wanted to celebrate his Golden Birthday (7 on the 7th) and he said he just wanted to stay home all day in his PJs and not go anywhere.  I reminded him that his beloved science class was on Wednesdays so he quickly altered his plan: stay home all day in his PJs, go to science class, and then back home to his PJs.  What about dinner? I asked.  Can’t we take you somewhere fun for dinner?  ”Oh, just a slice of pizza.”  After practically presenting a Power Point presentation, I did convince him to let us go to a nice pizza restaurant, but in the end we went down the street to trusty Fivo’s where we could be in and out in 20 minutes because let’s face it: that’s what the birthday boy wanted.

He got all kinds of wonderful presents and spent the day playing with all of them.  Here he is in his idea of heaven, at the kitchen table doing various math puzzles and mazes and science workbooks. Fun stuff!

And here he is diligently working on snap circuits while his mother tries hard, really she does, to understand what in the heck is going on here.

And here we are making his annual lemon-lemon birthday cake ….

… complete with Roman Numeral candles sent by the ever clever Aunt Jeni.

And here he is with his ol’ dad post-science class, pre-quick slice of pizza birthday dinner.

And now we wait for Aunt Jeni’s arrival to make the birthday weekend celebration complete!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO OUR SCIENTIFIC MATH LOVING JAZZ SINGER PJ WEARING MAGICIAN!

I’m glad I am at the airport on my way there because these wonderful pics and stories made my heart ache to be there with you! I would like to suggest that Huck and I stay in our pjs all day Sunday playing with his new toys and kissing. p.s. I love being called clever.

I feel so privileged that Huck left the comfort of his jammies to come to science class!! Wow! Thanks Huck. And thanks Troy and Jonny for creating such a spectacular boy. Did anyone eat the insect?
